Target of DC charger

Working of DC Charger

DC charger helps with fast charging in electrical vehicles. DC chargers are battery charged with DC electric power while most electricity is delivered as compared to AC power. Because the DC charger is Off-board charging, electric vehicles are on-board charged. First, an electrical vehicle converts AC to DC with the help of a rectifier then delivers current to the battery. but the DC charger bypasses the EV circuit and directs the delivered DC to the battery. DC charger is an Easily handshake to different electrical vehicles. A charger is a converter to AC to DC and delivered to supply EV batteries. CAN tool is used to communicate between EV and EVSE, monitor of SOC. Main Controller cards are set of Current and voltage according to SOC in electrical vehicles. That is, each other is easily monitored by CMS and checks the data log.

There are types of Guns used in DC Charger

  1.     CCS- Combo 1 and Combo 2

The socket is the combined charging used in AC and DC. IEC 62196-1, IEC 62196-2 and IEC 62196-3 standards used to DC charging connector. It has 5 pins used in gun, Control Pilot has used both types of communication low level and high level. CCS Sockets are present in Tata EV, Nexon EV etc. It is maximum current is 350 Amps and voltage between 200 to 1000V.

  1.     ChAdemo

ChAdemo is a Japanese manufacture. It is used Standard IEC 61851-23, 24. It has 3 power pins and 6 signal pins. It is used by CAN protocol in communication for signaling. Its maximum current is 400Amp and voltage range is 1000V to 400KW.

 

  1.     GB/T 

GB/T is a Chinese manufacture. It used the GB/T 20234-2015 standard and the connector used a CAN bus communication. It has 5power pin, 2 pin DC pin, one pin Earthing, 2 CAN pin and 2 is Auxiliary power. Now maximum current is used 250Amp and voltage range is 750V or 1000V.  

 

Communication Protocol 

      Electric vehicle specification the EV Charging is communication that is the need of between electrical vehicles and EVSE.

       DC charger communicates BMS of EV batteries, to enable the charging and maintain SOC of the battery. CAN device is used for physical communication between electric vehicles and EVSE.

       DC Fast charger is easily communicated by CMS and EVSE so as to be easily controlled depending on the rate of grid supply. CMS use Data log, check the status of charger and full control of EVSE.

      The communication Protocol used OCPP 1.6J Standard. It carried WIFI, Network, Ethernet and GPRS. 

      It is easy to communicate with another network.

      All networks provide and operate on websites and mobile applications.

      EV to interact with Different Charger. Communication and safe handshake between EV and EVSE.  Easily to analyse the log data.

Difference Between AC vs DC Charging Station

Common Difference in AC and DC Charging Station. DC Charger has faster charging than AC Charger, Because DC Charger is bypassing the EV Circuit and directly charging to the Battery. DC Charging Station is a more expensive installation than AC Charging Station. DC Charger consumes less time than AC Charger for charging the Electric vehicle.
